The Executive Recording Suit
The lawsuit drawing the most attention is an employment case. A Campbell’s security analyst, Robert Garza, alleges that in a November 2024 meeting a senior executive launched into disparaging comments about the company’s customers and made racially offensive remarks about colleagues, and that Garza was fired weeks later, in January 2025, after reporting them. The suit was filed in a Michigan state court in November 2025.
These are allegations by a former employee. Campbell’s subsequently stated that the executive named in the recording was no longer with the company.
The Labeling Cases
Alongside the employment matter, Campbell’s has faced consumer class actions over product labeling, with claims pending in federal court that certain products’ labels violated consumer-protection and labeling rules. As with any pending case, those are allegations a court has not resolved.
We found no lawsuit alleging lead contamination in Campbell’s products, despite that phrasing circulating in some searches; we will not describe a case we cannot source.
How to Read This
Two very different kinds of case are traveling under “Campbell soup lawsuit” — an individual employment claim and consumer labeling claims. They involve different plaintiffs, different laws and different remedies, and neither has produced a finding of liability.
