Legal Analysis

The Blade-Laceration Claims

Lawsuits against SharkNinja allege that the stacked blade assembly in certain Ninja blenders can detach unexpectedly — for example, falling from the pitcher while pouring — and cause serious lacerations. Reported injuries include deep cuts, tendon and nerve damage and permanent scarring. A recall of more than a million blenders followed reports of dozens of laceration incidents.

These are individual product-liability claims; injured consumers allege a design or warning defect, which the company would contest case by case.

The Pressure-Cooker Recall

Separately, in May 2025 SharkNinja recalled close to two million Ninja Foodi pressure cookers after reports that the lid could be opened while contents were still under pressure, leading to more than a hundred burn reports. Pressure-cooker burn cases are a distinct injury type from the blender lacerations, though both involve the same manufacturer.

A recall is a safety action coordinated with regulators; it does not by itself resolve the individual injury claims.

What to Do if You Were Injured

For any appliance-injury claim, the evidence is the product, the packaging or model number, medical records, and proof of purchase. Keeping the item rather than discarding it matters, because a product-liability claim generally requires showing the specific unit and how it failed. Whether a recall applies to your model is a separate question from whether you have an injury claim.
